If you’re short on ammo for a particular weapon type and ammo crates are in short supply, you can always turn to crafting them yourself. Scroll to the bottom to find a list of different ammo types: Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, and Sniper Rifles – that can be made using common components.

By default, 10 common components can be made into a stack of 24 pistol rounds, but you may be able to influence how many rounds or how much components are needed by investing in crafting skill perks. Thankfully, nearly everything can be disassembled for basic common crafting components.
