Eastward Tips and Tricks
Buy the Treasure Radar to Find Chests Easily
The Treasure Radar is available right from the beginning of the Eastward Prologue. You can buy it for just 50 Salt, which you’ll already have at the start of the game. The Treasure Radar will help you find Treasure Chests with ease, and it’s always equipped. As you approach a treasure, you’ll hear a beeping noise that intensifies as you get closer. It’s also signified with a set of three service bars in the top right of the screen. It’s a great buy, as many of Eastward’s treasure chests are well hidden.
Save at Fridges- Eastward Tips and Tricks
You need to use Fridges scattered across the world to save. Do so frequently so you don’t lose any progress! The game also autosaves, preserving up to four save points at a time.
Check the Map
Opening the Map with – helps you see where you’ve explored, and what areas still need uncovering. You can also see your next objective anytime on the map. It’ll be marked by a flashing icon of a person holding a flag.
How to Quickly Swap Weapons
If you’re playing on Switch, you can quickly look at your weapons or the recovery items in John’s backpack using L and R. This keeps you from having to delve into the full menu every time you want to heal or take a look at your arsenal. Once you have more weapons, you can also quickly cycle through them using the right stick.
How to Heal – Eastward Tips and Tricks
If you’re low on hearts, eat food! Some food can be bought at stores, but it’s more efficient to cook yourself. Defeating enemies will often lead to them dropping ingredients that can be used to whip up different recipes. You can cook at John’s house, or at Stoves that are often next to Fridge save points.
Stun, then Hit!
Once you’ve unlocked Sam’s Energy Bubble in Chapter 1, more combat abilities are available to you. If you find yourself overwhelmed by enemies, you should use Sam’s Energy Bubble to stun them, before quickly swapping over to John to take them out with your Frying Pan, or other weapon if you’re further along.
Use the Environment
If you’re ever stuck, just take a look around. You’ll often need to manipulate something in the room, like cables or fans, in order to unlock the door.
If you see rocks on the ground in a dungeon, try using the Frying Pan’s charge attack to launch them at enemies. It does a lot of damage, and will unlock you one of the game’s achievements, as well!
Watch for the Shadows!
Sometimes enemies drop from the ceiling. You can tell if that’s going to happen by looking for small, round shadows on the floor.
Find Heart Orbs to Up Your Health
Treasure Chests in Eastward with a heart emblem contain Heart Orbs. Collect four of these to increase your maximum health by one heart. The Treasure Radar will help you find these chests!
