For any drift skill to count you must move at the very least at 50km/h.
Recommended is also having shifting set to at least manual. With clutch is even better.
And also no other assists. Plenty o time to change your settings while you wait for the event to start.
And also a car that can drift.
Drift Skills
This one is about that bit of text that pops up when u do a drift, the most efficient thing to do is just grind the first drift skill in chain.
Best to do it on a straight road.
Here’s me doing just that with a s2 nissan fairlady z. This car i had to use the e-brake to do (tune used 184 413 571).

Drift on the Way to Destination – Forza Horizon 5 Drift Skills
Here all you have to do is just drift on any asphalt road, however you can fast travel to some easier place to keep a drift up like here.
