Devil May Cry 5 All Achievements

First thing is first, these achievements are hard. One in particular, Worthy of a Legend, will be the biggest time-sink, pain-in-the-rear achievement you’ve probably come across unless you’re a DMC legend. It requires every single mode, save one, to be completed with S Ranks on all missions. Be prepared to git gud.

I usually aim to say how many playthroughs will be needed to attain a full 100%, but suffice it to say that it will take a lot of time, many playthroughs, and tons of practice; especially if you are a newcomer to the series. If you manage to S Rank every mission off the bat, which is neigh impossible, you’re looking at a minimum of six; one for each difficulty.

On top of beating each mission for each difficulty, you also have to beat the Bloody Palace, when it comes out, with each character; Nero, Dante, and V.

Mission Specific

Protect the People

Defeat all enemies in Mission 01.
This may sound pretty easy, but it’s missable if you’re not careful due to one hidden enemy. Once you drop down from the broken bridge, after the mid-level cutscene, turn around. You’ll see a red mantis guarding a blue orb in the distance. Make sure you kill it, along with all of the enemies that spawn. Also note that the “ant” looking enemies that give you a ton of Red Orbs can burrow underground and disappear. If that happens, you fail the achievement requirements. If you need a video reference, there is one below.

Where the Red Orbs Grow

Collected Red Orbs from an unexpected spot in Mission 02.
After running into the first set of enemies in the second mission, the street will fork left and right; take the right path. On the very right side of the road, jump up to a hole in a building. Behind it, you will find Red Orbs. Destroy them, and the achievement is yours.

Backroad

Destroy a certain wall in Mission 04.
After passing a train bridge, you’ll make your way through a warehouse and end up on a street. There’ll be a big fight, you’ll get another tutorial about Devil Trigger Buffs. Charge up three bars on the Devil Trigger Gauge by taking out enemies, then summon the Nightmare. He’ll jump through a wall, which will unlock the achievement.

Break a Leg

Fend off a menace from above in Mission 05.
This achievement is in reference to “The Menace from Above”, which is a huge tentacle that busts through the ceiling and attacks you. There are quite a few of these in the fifth mission; the first one being in the warehouse with the second Blood Clot. If you take too long or walk away from it, the Menace from Above will disappear, so try to kill it quickly.

Pet Protection

Clear Mission 05 without V’s demons getting stalemated (any difficulty except Heaven or Hell).
To make this a lot easier, just do it on Human difficulty; the only hard part then is the boss of the level. For this, you cannot let Griffon or Shadow go down. Make sure to retreat your pets when the boss does a power-up attack. A good tip is that their health recovers when summoning the Nightmare, which requires 3 bars of Devil Trigger to summon. Buy these skills to make the process easier: Griffon Vigor, Griffon Vigor 2, Shadow Vigor, Shadow Vigor 2.

Share the Pain

Clear Mission 07 with both Nero and V.
This will come naturally on your way to beating the game with all three characters.

Unarmed and Dangerous

Beat Mission 07 without any starting Devil Breakers equipped (any difficulty except Heaven or Hell).
Make sure to go into the level as Nero, and in the Customization menu make sure to unequip any Devil Breakers, or cycle to another set that is blank. You’ll need to complete the entire Mission for this to unlock. Finding Devil Breakers in the Mission doesn’t void the achievement.

Eagle-Eyed

Destroy a certain wall in Mission 09.
Once you’re finished with the first set of enemies in mission nine, go to the end of the area and jump up the rocks; this will lead you to a dead end. There’s a wall blocking the path, and you’ll faintly be able to see a Gold Orb behind it. Summon the Nightmare again, and it will break through the wall. Just remember that you’ll need 3 bars of Devil Trigger Gauge to do this.

Who Needs Weapons Anyway?

Clear Mission 11 without equipping a weapon set for Dante (any difficulty except Heaven or Hell).
To even start this process, you have to beat the game on Son of Sparda, and then again on Dante Must Die difficulties. This unlocks Dante’s skill “Irregular Full Custom”, which is then purchased for 100 Red Orbs in the Shop. It allows you to unequip all weapons. Since you can’t attack with bare fists, so unlocking the “Super Dante” costume from Dante Must Die will give you Infinite Devil Trigger. After you’ve completed the game on both of the aforementioned modes, do the following:

– Load up Mission 11 on Human Difficulty.
– Choose “Super Dante” Costume.
– Buy skill “Irregular Full Custom”.
– Unequip all Swords and Guns in the Shop.
– In the Mission Screen switch to the empty weapon preset.
– Start the mission. Activate Devil Form. Use it to destroy all Blood Clots and kill all enemies on your path.

Don’t Mess with the Best

Use proper timing to get a leg up in a close-quarters battle against the boss in Mission 11.
You’ll have to equip the Devil Sword Sparda and use Swordmaster stance. When you reach the boss at the end of the level, just keep spamming the move that spins the sword, which will stagger the boss and unlock the achievement.

Each In His Own Way

Clear Mission 13 with Nero, V, and Dante.
This will come naturally on your way to beating the game with all three characters.

Slick Moves

Proceed with caution and avoid unneeded damage in Mission 15.
You can go down two different paths in this mission, and it doesn’t matter which one you take. They both will cross at a Divinity Statue. To attain this achievement, you can’t take any damage from traps in the free-roaming areas. You can, however, take damage from enemies and the mission boss. To make your life easier, just run through all of the free-roam enemies. Video guide for reference.

Obedience Training

Go on the offensive without relying on brute force in the Mission 16 boss battle.
During the boss fight in this mission, do not use the Devil Trigger Gauge. In human form, keep attacking the boss and you should get this achievement at some random interval. If it doesn’t unlock, pause the game and restart the checkpoint.

Battle for the Ages

Clear Missions 19 and 20 without using continues (any difficulty except Heaven or Hell).
Easy if you’re on Human difficulty. If you do end up failing, retry the mission. It really should be effortless and unnecessary of explanation on Human mode.

Skills & Upgrades

Nothing’s Impossible

Acquire all of Nero’s skills.
It takes between 4 and 5 million Red Orbs to completely upgrade Nero.

Be the Legend

Acquire all of Dante’s skills.

Demon Breeder

Seriously Stylish Slaying!

Perform a Stylish Rank SSS combo.
This is easier to do on higher difficulties, since the enemies won’t die as quickly. You must attack with different moves, kill different enemies, and do it all quickly. Using V is the easier method, as he doesn’t fight but leaves his pets to do the dirty work. Getting his “Promotion” skill allows you to mount the Nightmare, and enemies cannot attack you while you’re mounted. If you attack enemies with the Nightmare while mounted, and also use both Griffon and Shadow, this should come very naturally.

The best place to achieve this is during the first encounter in Mission 5; even on Devil Hunter mode, but the higher mode the better. Mission 7 is also another great spot. Lastly, the checkpoint in Mission 13 works well since it has respawning enemies.

Hell of a Hunter

Clear all missions with S rank.
Refer to Worthy of a Legend for more information.

Worthy of Legend

Clear all missions with S rank on all difficulties except Heaven or Hell.
This is the big one. This is the one that’s going to take you a very long time, a ton of deaths, and dozens of hours of practice to achieve. There are a total of 20 missions, plus the Prologue, for each difficulty. There are six total difficulties, but Heaven or Hell doesn’t count toward the achievement since it’s the easiest. The math breaks down to 5 difficulties x 21 missions = 105 total S Ranks. The worst part about this is the boss on the Prologue; he is a long and tedious battle.

The best way to get an S Rank in each Mission, is to complete it without taking a hit. Doing this gives a x2.20 multiplier, along with a x1.20 multiplier for not using a checkpoint or dying. Even if you’re really bad at combos, you’ll still get an S Rank due to these multipliers alone. This is all fine and well and mostly achievable until Hell and Hell mode comes up, since you die instantly and one hit negates any and all bonuses you would’ve otherwise accumulated. You will need to know the patterns and tell-signs of enemies and bosses so that you can evade perfectly.

In short, do your best to focus on dodging attacks rather than racking up crazy combo scores and Stylish points. Below is a list of penalties and bonuses found in the game.

Penalties:

  • Using Super costumes (Infinite Devil Trigger) = -80%, completely voids chance at S-Ranks
  • Using Auto-Assist (automatic combos) = -20%
  • Using Orbs to revive yourself = The more often you revive the more penalty you get
  • Using checkpoint restarts voids the x1.20 Multiplier
  • Getting hit voids the x2.20 Multiplier

Misc.

The Quick and the Dead

Defeat 5 enemies in 1 second.
This can be achieved as early as the first wave of enemies in Mission 2. Play on either Human or Heaven or Hell mode, and have the Helter Skelter Devil Breaker equipped. Wipe out the first 3 foes, then 5 more will spawn. Get them close to you and use your Devil Breaker skill to kill them all at once. On Human mode you may have to weaken them a little first, but on Heaven or Hell they will die in one hit.

Well I’ll Be Damned

Wield overwhelming power to exact an unexpected conclusion.
This is for unlocking the secret ending in the Prologue. To do so, you must beat the boss, Urizen. This will happen automatically in Heaven or Hell mode, since all foes will die in one hit.

I Believe I Can Fly

Rack up a total of 60 minutes in the air by jumping or other means.
This is pretty easy to get on your first playthrough, especially if you’re doing air combos and juggling the enemy a lot. There’s no real strategy other than to just jump around and play the game.

Jackpot!

Collect more than 1,000,000 Red Orbs total.
Another achievement that will come naturally. You’ll need a total of 15 million Red Orbs to upgrade all three characters completely, anyway. This will come through your playthroughs, don’t even bother grinding it out or worrying about it.

Demon Destroyer

Defeat 1,000 enemies total.
Yet another achievement that will just come natural and in due time. You’re going to be playing this game a minimum of 6 times through, plus the Bloody Palace modes. Don’t worry about it.

Rearm and Repeat

Collect more than 100 Devil Breakers during missions.
You’ll find various Devil Breakers laying around each Mission. Go into each Mission with room to spare for Devil Breakers so you can pick them up. Or use them and then pick them up. Easy to get over the course of six playthroughs.

Dante The Gambler.

Use more than 500,000 Red Orbs total with Dr. Faust.
After you’ve gathered the required Red Orbs, equip the Dr. Faust Weapon with Dante; it will be unlocked in automatically in Mission 13. Equip it and use it to shoot off Red Orbs until the achievement pops up. It’s a total waste of Red Orbs, so it’s best to save this achievement for after you’ve upgraded all three characters completely.

The Bloody Palace

Bloody Palace mode is UNRELEASED at this time. This section will be updated further, once the DLC comes out.
