Welcome to our List of Spells in Hogwarts Legacy guide. Hogwarts Legacy’s combat system relies heavily on using magic to attack enemies or using items to block attacks aimed at you. In this guide you will find all the information available about the different spells that you can cast during the game, including their names and their effects.
Below is a list of all spells available in Hogwarts Legacy. Please note that all information on this page is based on pre-launch information; We will update it once the game launches on February 10th, 2023.

| Crucio | This spell inflicts excruciating pain on its target— which is why it is also known as the Torture Curse. |
| Petrificus Totalus | This spell petrifies the target’s body. |
| Rictusempra | This spell causes the target to laugh uncontrollably. This spell is usually used during duels to distract your opponent. |
| Riddikulus | This spell is used against boggarts to force them to take another shape. |
| Stupefy | This spell is used in combat to stun opponents. |
| Lumus | This spell makes the tip of your wand light up so you can use it as a flashlight. |
| Incendio | A spell that conjures fire. This spell is seen during the Hogwarts Legacy trailers as a way to attack enemies. |
| Avada Kedavra | A powerful and forbidden spell that kills its target. |
| Protego | This spell is used during combat to guard the caster against incoming damage. |
| Wingardium Leviosa | A spell that lifts small objects or animals in the air. While this spell does not work on humans, it can make them levitate a few feets up in the air if the spell is cast upon a target’s clothes. |
| Accio | This spell summons an object into the caster’s arms. In the gameplay footage, we can see this spell being used to summon a nearby platform so the player can continue traversing through an area. |
| Flipendo | A spell that knocks a target backward. |
| Unknown offensive spell | During the gameplay footage, we saw an offensive spell used during dueling and battles. This spell casts a red line from the caster’s wand. While the name of this spell is still unknown, it could be a variation of the Blue Sparks spell. |
| Descendo | A spell that slams objects or enemies down. |
| Mysterious Magic | One of the key elements in Hogwarts Legacy story is the fact the protagonist can cast mysterious magic that not even the Hogwarts professors understand. It is confirmed you’ll be able to use said magic during combat, but the incantations for these spells are still unknown. |
