Alice Madness Returns FPS, Resolution & DLC FIX

How to fix FPS, Resolution, DLC, Addon and Bug in Alice Madness Returns? To extract the key to the game, use the information in our Alice Madness Returns FPS, Resolution & DLC FIX guide to adjust the settings and correct errors!

Changes in “DefaultEngine.ini”

Go to “File Explorer.”

Open “Windows (C:).”
Open “Program Files (x86).”
Open “Steam.”
Open “steamapps.”
Open “common.”
Open “Alice Madness Returns.”
Open “AliceGame.”
Open “Config.”
Open “DefaultEngine.ini” (Open Using Notepad) (or locate this file where you have installed the game).

*SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM*

Now you going to want to edit some text

FIND ”GIsSpecialPCEdition=FLASE”
EDIT IT TO SAY ”GIsSpecialPCEdition=TRUE”

*SCROLL UP A LITTLE BIT*

FIND ”[SystemSettingsEditor]
ResX=1080 //Edit to native resolution
ResY=720”

*RIGHT ABOVE THAT YOU WILL SEE*

”AmbientOcclusion=False”
EDIT TO SAY ”AmbientOcclusion=True” (DON’T MAKE ALL CAPS OR IT WON’T WORK!!!)

*SCROLL UP A LITTLE BIT*

FIND ”[SystemSettings]
UseVsync=False
ResX=1080 //Edit to native resolution
ResY=720
MotionBlur=False

Change the resolution once again. Also if you want to you can enable MotionBlur or Vsync by typing ”True” instead of ”False”

*RIGHT ABOVE THAT YOU WILL SEE*

[UnrealEd.UnrealEdEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=21.000000
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=33.000000

This is where you are going to change the frame rate. You are going to want to change the 21 and the 33 both to 60. This will enable the game to run at 60fps, (NOTE: IF YOUR MONITOR CAN GO HIGHER THAN 60FPS THEN BY ALL MEANS GO TO WHATEVER THE MAX FRAME-RATE IS)

(NOTE: Two lines of text pertain to frame-rate just like the resolution so you are going to have to change both of those. We’ll get to it later in the guide).

(If you change it to 60fps then it should look like this)

[UnrealEd.UnrealEdEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=60.000000
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60.000000

*SCROLL UP NEAR THE TOP*

FIND

[Engine.Engine]
GameEngine=AliceGame.AliceGameEngine
bEnableColorClear=TRUE
DefaultPostProcessName=PostProcesses.PostProcess_Default
bEnableColorClear=TRUE
DefaultOnlineSubsystemName=
DynamicCoverMeshComponentName=

ApexDamageParamsName=Nv_ApexDamageMap.AliceDamageMap
; NVCHANGE_BEGIN: Jiayuan – Apex Destructible DamageMap Parameters
LanguageRegistryPath=SoftwareEA GamesAlice Madness Returns
bSuppressMapWarnings=true

(All you want to change here is the frame rate numbers)

(IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS)

[Engine.Engine]
GameEngine=AliceGame.AliceGameEngine
bEnableColorClear=TRUE
DefaultPostProcessName=PostProcesses.PostProcess_Default
bEnableColorClear=TRUE
DefaultOnlineSubsystemName=
DynamicCoverMeshComponentName=

MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60

bSuppressMapWarnings=true

CLICK ”File” IN THE TOP LEFT AND THEN CLICK ”Save”

TO CHANGE CLOTHES AND WEAPONS ON THE MAIN MENU CLICK EQUIP IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT THEN USE THE ARROW KEYS TO SWITCH BETWEEN THE ITEMS.

Installation of American McGee’s Alice (Prequel):

1) Download American McGee’s Alice from the below link

https://mega.nz/file/X51mSTyQ#QRaK0V6xRYlCbvthS47pDDb1k2Dg9WNNCCxjp5PsFGY

2) After downloading extract that .rar file and put the Alice1 folder inside the main Alice Madness Returns directory.

Steam/steamapps/common/Alice Madness Returns

3) Now go to the text file (AliceEngine.ini or DefaultEngine.ini) and locate a line that says “[AliceGame.AliceGameEngine]”, below it you should see “Alice1Path=……Alice1bin”.

4) Change it to “Alice1Path=….Alice1bin”.

5) The prequel should be launched from the main menu.

Tweaks for American McGee’s Alice:

The text file that checks configs for this game is called default_pc.cfg and you can find it here:

…/Alice Madness Returns/Alice1/bin/base

If you’re having trouble with fullscreen, try changing seta r_fullscreen 0 to seta r_fullscreen 1.

Fixes for American McGee’s Alice Crashing:

1) If you are facing crashes while at the very start of the game or loading or saving the game, just launch the game again to continue progress. Should repeat this step each time.

2) Climbing Vines:

At some point, you’ll need to climb up vines. You’ll notice that there’s only a key assigned to “Climb down” but nothing to “Climb up”, and online guides will only tell you to press Enter to climb up.

For some reason, to climb up a vine you’ll need to use the alternate attack button, not Enter.

Skip Game Launch intro video:

Go to /Steam/steamapps/common/Alice Madness Returns/AliceGame/Movies and locate three files called Intro_EA.bik, Intro_SH.bik, and TechLogo_Short.bik, and remove it or just change their extension from .bik to .old.

The system has input language priority – keyboard layout.

Need to change to English as the main input of the keyboard.

Settings > Time & Language > First in the list must be English (drag and drop) or choose priority through the options (on old Win versions)

Fix DLC Weapons Not Working: (ALICE MADNESS RETURNS!!)

1) Go to steamappscommonAlice Madness ReturnsAliceGameConfigDefaultInput.ini
