These are some console commands that are useful for new and veteran players! All of these inputs will help you be more efficient, safe, etc. I hope that you’ll learn at least one new command from this guide!

Rust Console Commands

Map Utility and System – Server Information

To open the console, press F1 on your keyboard!

key: <required> [optional]

As stated above, all of these inputs will help you craft effectively with the press of a keybind.

1. printpos

When you type this into the console, your coordinates will be displayed. This is useful for servers with a coordinates HUD, but can also be used to find you way to monuments/caves.

2. monuments

DISCLAIMER: This command was recently removed in vanilla and is only accessible by admins, but is still enabled for players on some modded servers.

This command will show all monuments (dome, launch, etc) and CAVES with their coordinates. This is extremely useful for locating caves very early game.
Use printpos to find your coordinates!

3. perf2

If you have issues with frame lag, this command will show you your FPS and RAM usage. Very similar to task manager, except in game! Use this as a diasnostic/troubleshooting tool for various common issues.

4. sysinfo

Useful for generating in maps, this is where you will get the map seed!

5. client.connect <ip>

If you are having trouble finding/connecting to a server, this input will save you! Most common server’s connect ips can be found on their website.

6. fps

Pretty straight up, displays your current FPS.

7. clear

Fully clear your console, will not corrupt any data, just a visual thing for your viewing pleasure.

8. consoletoggle

If for some reason you want to bind your console to a different key, use this command!

Movement and Players

1. steps 60

Makes you jump just a tiny bit higher, useful to help out boosting and spike cave jumps.

2. kill

Typing this into the console and executing it will kill your character, useful if you’d like to spawn at a different bag.

3. combatlog

Probably one of the most essential commands in Rust if you are a PVPer!!! Combatlog will bring up your most recent encounters with other players, their steam ID, damage taken, their gun, and a lot of other useful information.

Rust Keybindings

You can bind a key to any accessible command in order to display messages in console/execute a certain command in game.

If you want to bind multiple commands to one key, seperate the commands using semicolons.

For example, bind f2 fps;combatlog

To unbind any of these keys at any time, replace bind with unbind.

Here are a few examples/my personal favorites:

1. bind <key> kill

This will automatically kill your character, for example, I use K.

2. bind <key> forward;sprint

This will activate autorun for your character, I don’t suggest binding this to W, because there are certain times where you want to walk 🙂

3. bind f2 consoletoggle;clear;combatlog

Will open your console, clear it, and then display the combat log when you press f2.
Make sure that you type these commands in the right order! Putting clear at the end will clear your combat log before you see it.

4. bind mouse1 +lighttoggle;+attack2

This will turn on your laser/flashlight when you aim down sights. Very useful for night time combat!

WARNING: If you already have your flashlight on, aiming down sights will turn it off!! Be careful or you may lose a fight.

5. bind <key> craft.add <itemid> <count>

When you press a button, the selected item will be added to your crafting queue. Useful for gunpowder, bandages, and other on the go items!
