Beginner Guide
-Choose the lowest difficulty level. This may be too harsh of a step, but it is recommended as a means of getting acquainted with the mechanics, considering that your first settlement will probably fall prey to one of the neighboring herds.
-Use pause, especially while building. Thanks to this, you can plan your colony without being bothered and, if you erect a structure in a wrong location, you can easily retract your decision, without loss of resources. You will not be rushed by the zombies at the gates. You only have to remember that you gain no resources when the pause is on.

-Tesla Towers are used to expand your colony. Place them on the outskirts of your settlement.
-Focus on one side. You’ve placed some tents at the south outskirts of your colony? Build double walls, towers, soldiers, archers and place them between you and the zombies. Make sure that the zone is guarded before you switch to a different side of the colony, as fortifying all sides at once may deplete your resources. After you have enclosed your colony in walls and defense towers, and you decide to expand, do not raze old walls to the ground. In a way, they will serve as an additional line of defense, should zombies break through the first line.
-Fortify the command center. This move will guard your command center which is also the heart of your settlement. Unfortunately, if zombies manage to invade the town, the infected inhabitants will have to be exterminated.
-Constantly recruit new troops. You’ve lost 3 archers? Recruit 6 new ones. Don’t let the zombies dispose you of your soldiers.
-Place, at least 2 Great Ballistas by each wall. They fire automatically, they have long range, they deal high damage and can kill several zombies in a single shot.
Walls, walls, walls – Single walls are weak. Build thicker walls and build them interchangeably with the remaining buildings to increase the chances of your survival.
-Try to erect new buildings close to each other and remember to leave narrow alleys between them. Thanks to this, your units will be able to move between them.
-Do not exaggerate with expansion of your territories. Expansion only pays off when you find significant deposits of resources, pastures for new farms and the so called choke points – strategic points, such as narrow passes between rocks. Adopting such tactic makes for easier defense and better management of resources while building reinforcements.
-Old buildings can be replaced with new ones (e.g. farms->advanced farms). This takes up less area, but doubles the upkeep. With lots of undeveloped land, sometimes it is better not to upgrade the existing buildings. This does not go for turrets.
-Do not attack small groups of zombies at the beginning of the game if they do not pose threat to your colony. This will only boost their aggression. As long as you are not going to expand, map out patrol paths for your units.
-Warehouse increases your storage area by 50 units, permissible gold amount by 2000 and production of your farms, and mines, by 20%. When you are well-off, you can easily increase production of resources considerably.
-At the very beginning focus on ensuring safety of your colony, by mapping out paths for your military units. After you decide to expand your territories, recruit archers. You do not have to build walls until the first wave arrives.
Often, during the match, single stray zombies will happen near your colony. They are easy to miss, if you have not set proper defenses. You can highlight them by pressing Alt, which displays their health bar
Keep a close eye on the spots where waves of zombies arrive. This will help you prepare proper defenses for the incoming waves.
