Bounty system is basically just fines for the crimes you’ve committed (well, gotten caught committing). Bounties can range from $5 for unarmed assault to $15 per murder and continue (adding) up from there.

Get Rid of Bounty

Unfortunately, there is only one way to get rid of the Red Dead Redemption 2 bounty. You can’t just go after the person who put the bounty on you and take them out. Instead, you are going to have to either surrender to the law or own up and pay the bounty.

If you don’t pay off your Red Dead Redemption 2 bounty, there are steep consequences. For one, the lawmen won’t allow you into the affected town or area until you pay it. If your crimes were severe enough, you may even be shot first and asked questions later. As such, you are going to want to pay the bounty as soon as possible.

If you bounty is low enough, you can sometimes simply surrender to the nearest lawman before things escalate by targeting them and pressing Y or Triangle to surrender, and putting away your weapons. You’ll spend a few in-game days in jail, and the fine will be paid automatically.

If you have a high bounty or otherwise don’t want to accidentally engage more lawmen, you can also pay your bounty at any post office.

In order to pay and get rid of the Red Dead Redemption 2 bounty, you are going to want to head to the nearest train station/post office. Head up to the clerk in the building and interact with them. You will see the option to pay off your bounty and be good to go.
