Stoneshard – New Adventurer Handbook

New Adventurer Handbook

These are the collections of memories from fallen mercenaries to aid new adventurers of Aldor. Only the basics are covered because adventurers may choose different styles during their dangerous lives and each adventurer should carve their own preferred strategy.

Safety Measures

Aldor is a dangerous place, filled with bandits, predators and vile creatures. Before going in an adventure, you can follow some safety procedures.

1. Sleep before any adventure (save your game).
2. Refill your waterskin in any well in town.
3. Buy some food from a merchant.
4. Stash any non-essential items in your stash in the inn.
5. After accepting a contract, read the map to understand the routes to your destination.

Combat

Combat is a necessity. There are many ways to fight. Melee, ranged, magical. However, a good outcome depends on the gear you have, the skills you use, some luck and some prudence.

1. Think ahead before engaging in battle.
2. After each battle, tend to your wounds.
3. If necessary, take a rest to recover.

Inventory Management

For the best dungeon delve possible, inventory management is very important. Every adventurer desires loot to be sold in town, but only a few will make it out of the dungeon if they are not careful.

1. Always have a filled waterskin before leaving town.
2. Always have some food before leaving town.
3. If possible, bring medical supplies with you.

Dungeon Crawling

1. Make a habit of using the Detect Traps skill.
2. Keep an eye on your statuses and tend to your maladies. If you don’t know what an icon means, hover your mouse cursor over it to get more information.

Some Tips

1. You don’t have to accept contracts to complete them. I think you only have to talk to the quest giver about the contract, and decline. If you complete the dungeon they’re talking about, you can come back and take the reward right away. This way there’s no time limit, but there’s also no map marker.

2. Travel along the edges of map tiles so you can jump over to the next one if you run into an ambush or some wolves.

3. You can inspect characters with right-click to check their remaining health %. Useful on bosses.

4. Use “W” to switch between equipment loadouts. Equipped items don’t take up inventory spaces, so you can use the alt loadout to carry more weapons/loot back to town.

5.The tailor will buy pelts for a bit more than others. The smith will buy weapons and metal armor for more ect. It is a little thing but it can add up.
